About Oyu Stone Circles? 大湯環状列石とは?

Oyu Stone Circles is in Towadaoyu, Kazuno-shi, Akita. They are large-scale ruins of late Jomon Period (about 4,000 years before) which makes a subject two stone circles (Nonakado stone circle, Manza stone circle).
 大湯環状列石は、秋田県鹿角市十和田大湯に所在する2つの環状列石(野中堂環状列石、万座環状列石)を主体とする縄文時代後期(約4,000年前)の大規模な遺跡です。

Nonakado stone circle is 44 m in diameter, and Manza stone circle is 52 m in diameter.
 野中堂環状列石は直径44m、万座環状列石は直径52mです。
Most stones currently used for two stone circles are quartz diorite-porphyrites.
 2つの環状列石に使われている石のほとんどは石英閃緑ヒン岩です。

The following thing became clear by excavation investigation so far. The arrangement ruins of a stone are "graves" and a stone circle is a "group grave.
 これまでの発掘調査により、環状列石を構成する配石遺構は「配石墓」であり、その集合体である環状列石は「集団墓」であることが判明しました。

 野中堂環状列石南側30m地点からは配石遺構群が発見されています。

In excavation investigation, many ruins, straw-rope pattern earthenware, stone tools, ground products, and stoneware are excavating.
 発掘調査では、たくさんの遺構とともに多量の縄文土器、石器、土製品、石製品が出土しています。
Earthenware was made from the second-half preceding page of the Jomon period in the middle, and, generally this is called "Tokoshinai type earthenware." The petal-like pattern, the thing of signs that turned S character sideways and it continued, etc. are also called "Oyu type earthenware."

The "lipped bowl earthenware" excavated mostly in Oyu Stone Circles is one of them, and it is the earthenware representing these ruins.
 大湯環状列石で多く出土した「片口土器」もその一つで、この遺跡を代表するものです。

Stoneware, such as clay products, such as "earthenware vessel made by a board" with a clay figure, mushroom form clay products, animal form clay products, and a footmark, and a sword of a stone stick and a stone, was also made. These are considered to be related to religious service.
 土偶、キノコ形土製品、動物形土製品、足形付土版などの土製品や、石棒、石刀などの石製品も作られました。これらは、祭祀に関係があると考えられます。

 土偶や足形付土版は、子孫繁栄や子どもの成長を祈り、キノコ形土製品、動物形土製品は豊作を祈り、感謝する祭りに用いられたものと考えられます。

Thus, it is thought that Oyu Stone Circles and its circumference were the "religious service institutions" which held the ceremony in which the sense of the reverence to attendance-at-a-funeral courtesy or nature was expressed.
 このように、大湯環状列石及びその周辺は、葬送儀礼や自然に対する畏敬の念を表す儀式を行った「祭祀施設」であったと考えられています。
